Honda OEM Part Numbers
I have a general question. Often when I search for a Honda OEM part (even by entering my VIN number) I get multiple part numbers listed. For example, when searching for an upper control arm by my VIN I get two part numbers listed:
51460-SDA-A01
51460-SDA-A21
Does anyone know what the difference is?
Is either one compatible with my vehicle?
My car is a J VIN (Manufactured in Japan) and I know that means it sometimes requires different parts, but in this case both part numbers show up even when I put my VIN in.
Does anyone have a "decoder ring" for Honda part numbers? i.e. what does SDA stand for? What do the final three digits mean? things like that?
Thanks for any insights!
John

You should list your model year, etc. for help questions.
51460 is for front left upper arm assembly. You’ll find this same number used for the front left upper arm assembly on other Honda/Acura models.
SDA is the part number for Accord 03-07 (or same chassis Honda/Acura) Chassis Component. You'll find the SDA as part of other chassis components for 03-07 Accords (or same chassis Honda/Acura).
The other numbers at the end are manufacturer codes. Sometimes revisions/changes are made to the parts or it is a different manufacturer. In this case, the 51460-SDA-A01 is for USA origin 03-05 Accords and Japan origin 03-07 Accord.
51460-SDA-A21 is for USA origin 06-07 Accords.
If you go to a Honda internet site like Bernardi Honda Parts and enter your VIN and select origin, etc. and if applicable, it should only show the specific parts are applicable.

Wow, thanks for the great info! Very informative.
My car info is:
2007 Accord SE, 4CYL with J VIN (Manufactured in Japan). So, thanks to your information it looks like my part # in this case is:
51460-SDA-A01
Thanks again!
