Default Hose above lower radiator? (01 LX)

I have a 2001 LX and after loosing a fair amount of radiator fluid and having the car over heat. I replaced the lower radiator hose (which I am hoping fixed the over heating issue) but, I noticed a hose just above the lower radiator hose on the left side of the engine bay, that seems to lead to nothing! Does the hose actually lead to nothing or am I missing its connector? It seems to be a vacuum hose or a breather hose of sorts. I am just concerned that I am missing some connection. I have attached two pictures and circled the hose in red. I can upload more pictures if that would be helpful.

Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure what it is but here is a link to the 6th gen FSM.

You should be able to find it in there. My guess is a left over part from a repair. Maybe work was done on the AC and that was a pipe that was cut and rerouted.

Look like someone replaced the rubber hose, which is the auto transmission breather tube/hose with a makeshift metal one.

I had just a nipple coming from my clutch housing that looked like that. Thought it was a vent. No rubber hose. But thats probably the same basic set up.

The vent on a manual looks different from the vent on an automatic. I think there's supposed to be a sort of oversized rubber cap that covers it with a little opening pointed down.

Whats it for? Does the pressure in the transmission housing build up?

Yeah, there's a lot of air-space inside the transmission case. It needs a vent, just like most other components. If it WAS sealed airtight, then pressure would build up as it heats up; maybe blowing a seal somewhere. The cap or hose is simply a way of keeping rainwater out.
