Hot hard start
1995 accord ex Auto
Cold....
Hey guys so my cars acting strange, every morning i turn on the car with no problem what so ever maybe a little sputtering but it quickly goes away.
Once warm....
Now heres the problem, once i park the car and go back to it 5-10 min later it wont want to start. it just cranks and cranks. I literally have to put the gas pedal all the way down until it starts up but sputtering bad.
im actually losing a cup of coolant every couple of days so im guessing i have a bad head gasket. But can a bad head gaskey cause sputtering and even making the car die?
Oh and the car runs perfect after I start it... -____-
BTW the car doesnt overheat unless i dont add coolant which i check every sunday.

Four common signs of a blown head gasket // The Car Guy
Sounds like you should fix the head gasket issue first and see if the problem remains. Does the car blow white smoke?

You may have two problems.
1. A leak in the coolant system. Call your local parts store to verify that you can rent a radiator pressure tester. See if your radiator can hold about 15 psi of pressure. If not, try to locate the leak. Do this when the engine is cold, so there is less of a chance for coolant to evaporate.
2. The starting problem could be due to a spark or fuel issue.
I would start with #1 as this is easier. You may want to remove the spark plugs after you drive it to see if there is coolant in the cylinder.

It doesn't sound like a main relay to me. Usually the main relay will fail when the inside of the cabin is hot, like when sitting in the sun all day.
There is a quick and simple test for the main relay.
Turn the key to the II position, but do not try to start the car. When the check engine light turns on for about two seconds, you should hear a slight buzzing/whirling sound from the back seat. Turn off the radio, blower, etc.. and listen carefully. Let us know if this sound if missing or present when the car will not start.
