Default How can I test TDC sensors - 2001 Accord LX V6

Yesterday, I was driving home in the rain. While going about 65 mph, the check engine light came on and the engine lost power. It was as if I ran out of gas.

When I got the car towed home, I pulled the ODB2 codes and they were P1362 and P1367. These apparently mean both TDC sensors failed at the same time or their is some kind of short in the system.

I haven't a clue how to test this or even find the TDC. Any pointers on how to locate and test these components?

Thanks,
Dave.

My 2000 4cyl had the same issue over the weekend. Driving in the rain, the car suddenly just died. Checked codes and got the same codes you did. On a 4cyl the TDC and CKP sensors are beside the crank. Not sure about the V6.

But just out of curiousity, when the car shut down did it sputter like how it does when it runs out of gas or did it just shut down? What happened when you tried to restart?

For me, the car just died, no sputtering, just died, electrical was still good (dash lights, fan, etc). When I tried to restart it would run for 1 second then just die.

2 days later I turn the key and it starts right up.. as if nothing happened.

I did my timing belt a while ago myself but did not put the gaskets back (used a liquid gasket) but may be there's a hole somewhere where water is getting in and fouling the sensors.

Even if you did not have your timing belt changed, quite possible the gasket has deteriorated fouling your sensors. Try starting it up.
