Default How to rotate the crankshaft?

It is a 95 Honda Accord, LX, 2.2 L engine Auto Tranny. Got to adjust the Valve lash. Could anyone give
some details on how to rotate the crankshaft. Is is the only way to turn the crankshaft bolt?
or there is an easier way, do I have to put the shift to "N" rather than "P" so that the crankshaft
rotation is not restricted by the tranny?

Any input is appreciated!

Tranny in "P" is fine, the tranny won't restrict the engine. Sometimes it's possible to grab the crank pulley by hand & turn it, especially if all the spark plugs are out. But I just use a socket wrench on the pulley bolt.

Thanks a lot for your info., JimBlake, and excellent write up by deserthonda too. I will
turn a few wrenches on it this week.
