Default HVAC issues.

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone of you knowledgeable people can help out?

I have a 2008 Honda Accord EX 4 cylinder and having issues with my HVAC.

The AC compressor clicks on for a second then off for 10 seconds then repeats. I have changed the relay and also ensured that the refrigerant is at a proper level.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks

How did you check the refrigerant level? Did you use a manifold that can read high and low side pressure? What pressures did you get?

I recommend getting a pdf shop manual for your car. automanualsource.com has one for ~$22 and is worth the investment for DIY work. It will pay for itself the first time you fix something on your own and is a great resource.

Your accord has a self diagnostic for the HVAC that could point you towards a failed sensor/component/wiring. The way to enter the self diagnositic is different if you have a standard hvac (one temp setting for drivers/passenger) or climate control (different temps to set for driver's and passenger), also does your car have navigation? The shop manual has the procdure for each, or we could walk you through it.

Hello PAHonda,

I only have a low side gauge and it measures about 35 to 40 when the compressor kicks in for that 1 sec.

Thanks so much for taking interest

Just measuring the low side won't give you the whole picture on the system charge. There are other factors like the high side pressure, outside temp, temp at the vents, and humidity to factor.

I'd check the HVAC codes like I mentioned earlier. Either get that manual or post the type of hvac system and we can help. You can probably find the instructions searching the web as well.
