RE: i have oil in my air intake box
Well, the only way i can think of oil getting into the airbox would be through the breather hose on the left side of the valve cover that connects into the intake tube. Which, to me, would indicate severe blow-by in the cylinders... how much oil are talking?

about a qt of oil in a week and a half. i switchd from 10 30 to 20 50 and it has slowd it down. i just got done putting a new water pump in and just wondering if theres something i did wrong to cause this?

I hope that you realize that the heavy oil isn't circulating how it should. Oil weight is determined mostly by the gap in the main bearings ..... they hang onto the crankshaft.

If the oil losses are not from leaks than the oil is getting past the rings from blow by or valve guides or seals. You could take out the spark plugs and they should have signs of burning oil. I think the person that gave you advice meant valve guilds not valve seats. Bad valve guilds could give you oil consumption but you would not have oil in the air cleaner or be losing that amount. I don’t think the thicker oil will hurt anything further.
