My '92 has the same idle problem. runs up to 1.5K, then drops back to 1K. Aside from that the car runs great. I don't have any of the other problems the original poster complained of. ALSO... my check engine light is NOT on.

Can I still get the codes if the CEL is not on?

Moved to your own thread for better responses.

Check PCV system for leak and vacuum system in general for leaks.

Check coolant level is full by bleeding any air from bleeder behind distributor above intake manifold. Low coolant level can cause this issue.
