Reading other idle posts something dawned on me this AM. when i replaecd the valve cover gasket i didnt put the ground wire back on the 3rd - most right (looking towards drivers seat from outside the car) grommet on the top of the valve cover. So it is not on there. Could that cause my high idle or just a coincidence? I still need to look at the choke and will try that later.

You should out it back on but I doubt that is the issue with the idle.

Default Todays idle tests

Ok throttle cable is good.... choke works fine.. stays open... tapping when hot does nothing. I tried to force air in with pump into line 18 into the idle unloader and nothing happened. (so not sure if i was getting air into the unloader and its bad along with another problem which you will read shortly or if no air actually went in there because the idle did not drop. I admit the pump is not working ideally but it seems it should have gotten some air in there. I will try with another pump another day again.

I also checked vacuum into 18 and 19. I got some in 18... my guage kinda ticked up some not much not even close to 5 of the vacuum measurement per the guage. I got same amount - doesnt seem much - 5 out of 5 tests while car was running. In line 19 i didnt pick up ANY idle in 5 of 5 tests. According to the online guide it seems it should and says to check Thermovalve B. I wasnt expecting this and did not print that section so i have additional tests for another day.

Anyone have any recommendations? or insight? Can you even buy these parts anymore?

Default I may just replace the parts...with 240k cheaper than a pro

Coudlnt hurt to have new i guess anyway. So i found the parts but i want to check with you experts if i have the right ones before i waste any more money.

Is the unloader the same as the Idle Stop Solenoid... Advance auto has Wells brand model E4032 $69.99 (i always use a 30% off coupon) Is this the same as the fast idle unloader?

I found what i believe are the two thermovalve. Sons honda has
Stock 17360-PD2-013 says Thermovalve (50A) $37.85 I assume this is Thermovalve A lol

Stock # 17355-PH2-013 Thermovalve Carb. $37.85 Is this Thermovalve B or another thermovalve? Part #12 and 13 on the diagram sons honda has.

I did see another honda dealer with Thermovalve B (B-60) and was part #10 on their diagram.(19330PD2013) at hondapartscheap.com - not endorsing just the only place i found this. Is this the actual thermovalve B and not the one above that says carb?

These actually seem cheaper than Standard brand model # PVS131 and i am not even sure what thermovalve that one is.

Again, a service manual will help.

You can test the thermo valves, at a certain temp they open an allow vac fom "this port to that port".

The fast idle unloader can be cleaned and tested. Forget which, think "B", but when thermovalve B gets to x temp it changes the vac to the fast idle unloader.

Sorry the best manual I have is like 32 meg and doesn't e-mail very well, it is for the 89.

posted same on the other thread butnoticed somethign different today. warm outside.. cranked it up and it was at 2k rpm. Tapped the gas and it dropped to 1200. let it warm up a little but not quite to full operating temp (needle int he middle of the guage). Then cut car off and restarted ... did the same thing - 2k rpm tapped and it dropped to 1200. When if finally reached operating temp the rpm would not drop below 2k even when i tapped the gas. To me teh unloader works but perhaps one of the thermovalves isnt operating correctly. I did connect the two short hoses 18 and 19 end to end and nothing happened. Does that mean B is bad?
