it's not because the injectors need cleaning
it's skipping.

RF Texas - i didn't go to yamaha school - and from experience all cleaning products are not magicl as they sound to be- more lke profilactical - if your injector is dirty it wouldn't really clean it - you will just feel good about yourself but thats it.

 

I didn't imply that all are magical. If an injector is totally clogged, which is extremely rare, it is unlikely that over the counter cleaners would do much good, if any. My objection is to your "knows all" statement that they are all crap because it is simply not true.

I'm not trying to start a heated argument here. The regular use of one of the suggested cleaners will keep the spray pattern at its optimum thus yielding peak efficiency. They also keep the entire fuel system clean when used on a regular basis.

To each his own on this subject but I speak from experience on marine and automotive fuel injected engine repair and preventive maintenance. The concentration of cleaner to fuel is important also.

Indeed, the problem may not have to do with fuel at all, none of us have a crystal ball to diagnose a car over the internet. How long have the plugs been in there, what's the mileage, describe the symptoms in detail, THEN perhaps we can help. But....the question was about cleaners that work and I answered that to the best of my experience.

I agree with your right to disagree but throw in some facts supporting your view, not just a blanket statement.

We need more info to assist you. What car, what mileage, etc.? Last tune up? Hot, cold, both, what? Details, please. Regardless of the fuel injector cleaner opinions, it could be something entirely different. Please, give us more information.

 

well guys its a 94 accord ex 160xxx miles i pulled the injectors they seem fine i think its misfiring now im really takin my time tryin to listen to the car so i dont become a parts changer its missfiring defiantly im going to check my plugs and wires again and hop i find it and that its a cheap fix i dont really have the cash to be puttin my car in the shop again [&o]



last tune up was done apr 1 05 by honda

 

How soon after the tune up did the miss start? Since you paid (dearly) for the tune up, have you considered taking it back to them?

Take off your spark plugs and see if there is a proper gap on them, or even better replace those with Bosch platinum with 4 contacts - those are factory gapped and they work forever. I have mine for 25K miles and planning to go another 25K on them without a doubt.

Although it is the most common for sparkplugs to go bad, but wires sometimes can crack - examine the wires especially at the bottom where they connect to spark plugs for cracks. Those are usually lifetime warrantied. So you will be able to replace them anytime you think is necessary - I hope you keep all your service history with receipts on hand.

and now to the serious part - it could be something serious really, these kinda problems may turn into even bigger problems so your best choice is to bring it to a good mechanic and pay the diagnostics fee to know exactly what causes such behavior.

 

it sounds like you might have a bad wire or wrong gapped spark plug wire. have you drove it like that yet? does when you hit the gas it take a few seconds to start going? thats what mine did and i replaced the wire,plugs,distributor cap, and rotor button all for about 60.00 at advance. it fixed my problem. i think that might be the problem but wont promise u.
