Default Intake. Unknown filter in the way!!!

Hey, i dont really have a pic of this part, but it is right below the stock intake. im looking to put a sri in and when i went to do it, i took the stock intake off, and found a part that says "filtech inc." and it is connected to the intake, and also has vacuum hoses going from it, to the EGR. I dont want to leave it open, because im afraid it will mess something up, but everyone i asked has no idea what it is. so if anyone could help me out that would be great!!

its a 96 Accord EX with a 2.2 Vtec in it.

Take a picture, it doesnt sound like a stock item.
Maybe a prior owner installed a catch-can?

I don't know about the sri but when I did my cai all of the system had to be removed. It all connects together with the stock intake. That is the part that connects to the box that's down in the front bumper or wheelwell. I think you just block off the vacumn line when you remove the stock intake. Mine is a CAI so I had to remove everything and yours is a SRI so you should only have to remove the part that's in your way.

It's the intake resonator. You need to take off the bumper cover and 2 bolts to remove it, piece o' cake. Wont hurt anything when it's gone.

More info at http://www.filtsai.com/accord/AEM-CAI/installation.php
