I just bought a Accord 94 EX with 150K Automatic tranny. The dealer doesn't know when the last time the timing belt was done. I called up a local honda dealership to see if they can pull service history but they said unless they serviced the car it will not be in their computers. Any suggestions? Should I just change it anyway to not risk the chance of the timing belt snapping? Honda gave me a quote of $850 to do timing belt, pump and the rest of the belts.

 

I would have it done, but not for that price. Should be 300-500 i would think, including the water pump as well.

 

I would get it done anyway. As smaglik said $850 is ridiculous. Whip out your yellow pages and find a few Honda-certified shops. Call them and get price quotes. It should only cost between 300 - 500 for timing belt, water pump, and seals.
