Unhappy Loud continuous noise on startup.

This weekend I swapped a tranny into my 97 se, and switched out the oil pan gasket. I did notice that the oil pickup was bent and the pan was bent some too. I tried straightening out the pickup, and tried straightening the pan out too. When I sealed everything up and reassembled everything. I added oil and started her up. It ran for a second okay, then it made an awful loud continuous noise. The motor ran fine before. I dropped the pan again, and took the pickup off and found a piece of the inside construction of the pickup, but nothing else was unusual looking.

What should I do to diagnose this problem. All help wil be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
