Default Low Gear Sound

Car : 2008 H Accord Lx, 79K, 4 Cylinder, Auto transmission.

My Car recently got brand new pistons from Honda dealer for some oil problem. The concern I m going to report has been noticed even before piston change.

When the car is in 1st gear and upon acceleration, I understand it would be at high revolution and make some noise. but I'm hearing a "guiii" kinda noise along with the engine sound.

To get a clarity on the sound, I parked my car and accelerated, engine acceleration is perfect, very smoothly running...

So this "guiii" sound appears only when i start driving and when engine changes gear from 1 to 2 .. it reduces 75%... From 2 to 3... 95% reduces...
From 3 to 4... Gone...

To explain that sound better, this "guiii" sound is close to any car in reverse gear and accelerate !!

What do you think ?

I have noticed transmission sound (whine) in my 06 TSX and 03 MDX AT's. I have heard the explanation (other forums) as internal trans bearing sound. It is tolerable in my vehicles. Perhaps this is sound you hear. Yes, it sounds like the reverse gear sound but not nearly as loud.

I have seen one report of CV axles causing whine that was cured w/ regreasing of CV jts. I find it hard to believe a high pitched whine could come from a cV axle.

Suggest trying to pinpoint source of noise. It might turn out to be somthing fixable.

good luck

Yes its like (whine) sound.

I showed it to Honda yesterday during oil change, but they could not comment anything except throwing on belts or pump.

I dont know what pump is he talking about though!!

Power Steering pump will make a whining sound when air is entrained in PS fluid. Check PS fluid reservoir for bubbles w/ engine running. Check PS pump is source of noise.

good luck
