Lucas Engine Oil Heavy Duty Additive Safe on 2006 Accord?
My wife's 2006 Honda Accord is a 2.4L L4 DOHC 16V manual transmission. She's using a little bit (1 qt per 2k) of oil these days at 225K, but not noticeably leaking. Scotty from YouTube highly recommends Lucas Oil Additives but cautions that there are two types and choosing the correct one (110 viscosity vs 19) is crucial as the heavier one is designed for older engines. My gut feel is that the appropriate one is the older, thicker stuff as opposed to the new stuff.
Any thoughts on this?

Burning oil is caused by worn components inside the engine. I don't think an oil additive will fix the issue, and addressing the root cause would be very expensive.
If this was my car, I'd keep a quart of oil in the trunk and check the level when filling up the gas tank. Add oil when needed.
I'd probably try the thin version first as that is the lower risk of the two.

While using the Lucas oil additives may be relatively safe for the engine, they are clearly not safe for your wallet; the fact is, oil is cheap, keep the engine topped off and you'll drive tens or even hundreds of thousands of additional miles. If you don't like the oil consumption, rebuild or replace your engine.
