98 LX, auto with 168k. Both of my fans haven't been turning on for the past year. Today i went and tested both of the fans with some test leads to the battery and only the A/C fan (drivers side) turns on when i hook it up. The main radiator fan (passengers side) does not turn on when i hook it up to the leads.......... Could it be bad and needs replacing???

Or is the relay switch on the fuse box shot along with the cooling fan switch on thermostat???

Or could it be that all 3 (radiator fan, relay switch, cooling fan switch) are shot???

Would the main fan cause the A/C fan not turn on if the main fan is dead?

.........A while back my car overheated for whatever reason during the summer and i replaced the radiator (crack on it), radiator cap (disintegrated), and thermostat for a cooler temperature thermostat (170* or so). Since then my fans have not been working, not even when the A/C is on.

 

If you are hooking it up directly to 12 volts and it still does not work it pretty much means your fan is dead....

 

I just finished replacing my radiator fan motor about an hour ago. Try checking the voltage across the pins with the a/c and fan on to see if you're getting 12+ volts. If yes, then you're fan motor is likely dead, or dying. (Information I picked up from this forum.)

I tapped my fan motor with a hammer before I replaced it, and it spun feebly, so I knew it was time to replace.
