It is certainly possible. There is more to it than just exchanging a transmission.

The items that will need (off the top of my head) will be a MT PCM, clutch pedal, MT trans. mount. You may or may not have to do these: MT mounting bracket welded to the frame, CV joints.

It has been covered in here before, so do a search for manual transmission conversion. Search around for manual transmission swap to see what else you would need, because I sure that I am forgetting something.

If you can find a wrecked MT accord at a U-Pull-It place for a 98-02 (or possibly a 94-95), then that would help lower the cost for all of the extras stuff you will need. If not, then the price will start adding up and would likely not be worth it on a 12 year old vehicle.

Im doing a auto 2 5speed swap right now on my cb7. It is some work. I know your a 6cyl but 99% of this applys to you and is a guid line and price line on how much you will spend.

auto 2 5speed trans mount $110 (not usre if your gen accord needs this or not but mine dose)
5 speed trans mount $45
master clutch cyl $35
Slave cyl $35
Master cyl reservoir $15
5 speed clutch pedal assembly $20-50
*Fitting, 90 Degree, -3 AN Male to 1/8 in. NPT Male $6
*Fitting, Metric Adapter, Oil Pressure, 1/8 in. NPT Female to 12mm x 1 Male $9
*Fittings, Brake Adapter, Steel, -3 AN to 10mm x 1.0 Male $12
*Brake Line, Speed-Flex, Braided Stainless Steel, 72 in., -3 AN Female, -3 AN Female $30
Clutch and pressure plate of choice $100-300
Flywheel $150-300
Driver side axle $100
5 speed shifter assembly w/ shifter cables $60-70
5 speed starter $120 (if it didnt't come with your trans most of the time they do)
5 speed trans $100-400

(the stuff marker with "*" is a substation for the clutch line from master cyl to slave and deletes the dampener "which is not needed")

#edit# MOST the the pricing is buying parts from a junk yard or pick n pull NOT NEW

I think that covers it all. It's a good bit of work with the engine and trans in the engine bay. Right now it's easy for me b/c I don't have anything in my bay so I have all the room to work with.

this is a good write up for the swap

Also your accord has a f23 engine right??...then you can use any f series or h series trans will bolt up to your f23 engine.

Be careful, we've got 4-cyl and V-6 Accords in this thread. Sometimes I wish Honda would have called those cars by completely different names they're so different.

V-6 was never offered with manual during 1995-2002. Gotta do something with an Acura TL or something like that.

oger67, I copied your posts and replies to a new thread. In the future, please start your own thread, so things do not get confusing.

Jim is right, the 98-02 V6 did not come with a MT. That means that there will be much more work to get this to work. It probably could be done, but it will not be simple at all.

This would be even more expensive compared to doing a "normal" 5-speed swap. It would not be worth all of the work IMO.

From the sounds of it you are looking to pay a shop to do it, which you would probably be in the $1,500-$2,000 range between parts and labor, which is almost to what the car is worth.

The 98-02 V6 auto transmission are terrible, you can replace it with another if you want, but it will be a week, a month, or a year until you have to replace it again. I would recommend selling the car and moving on.
