Default My car won't start after I cleaned EGR port

I recently worked on a friends car after she had her EGR valve replaced. Her engine was still shuttering on the highway. this is the v6 2002 honda accord and I learned the EGR port has a problems cogging. I took it apart and sure enough the port in the intake manifold was full of carbon. I drilled it out and cleaned it up. I put everything back in order and tried to start the car, but it won't start. The starter turns just fine but it won't fire. Also after the "fix" The car got a p0113 error code (IAT sensor). I am sure I have replaced everything exactly how it was. I wasn't able to overide the two-trip error dedection, is this why it won't fire?

IAT shouldn't prevent it from firing.

This belongs in General Tech, so I'll move it.

You prolly have valves wedged open with carbon debris. Happens alot with port cleaning. Try to start it and after a couple seconds of cranking floor the gas and see if that helps. When it does start if might run foul for a moment if it is a carbon issue.

I hope that when you drilled it out you cleaned the intake out before you reinstalled it. Especially if you removed aluminum and installed the new tube as per the tsb. If you didn't wash out all the chips and carbon it will be tough to get it to start.

Thanks for the response. Everything turned out well. It ended up that while I went inside to get a beer my mate put the manifold back on without taking the tape off, and lied to me about it. So the car is purring like a kitten again. Still dunno why it tripped the IAT code, but it hasn't tripped since so no worries I guess, lol.

That's why you save the beer for after it's all finished...
