Mystery hiss...
Anyone know if a hiss is normaly near the PS pump on a 1993 Accord? If not, does anyone know what it my be symptomatic of? I know for sure that it's in that region. I placed on ear over many areas but it's definitely coming from the PS pump region.
Could it just be an old belt on the way out?
I also noticed that udner the PS pump where the compressor belt is, the compressor belt appears to be chaffing on something between it and the lower timing cover. It may even be the timing cover itself. It appears melted. That side of the belt (left) is also shiny glazed.

Yeah it sounds like a sustained hiss "ssssssssssssssssssssssss" that doesn't go away. It's definitely coming from the PS pump region because I put one ear towards the regions and move around until I can hear it. Then I put my ear right above the PS pump facing it to the floor and I can hear it louder. I moved to the timing cover where the fuel rail is and it disappeared, moved back to PS pump and there it is again.
I think it's the compressor belt chaffing on that thing between the belt and lower cover or it's the lower cover itself. There's some kind of deformed thing between the two, it almost looks like some piece of twisted debris, a leaf or possibly melted plastic. I think the lower cover came loose and rubbed on the compressor belt since the side of the compressor belt facing the debris is shiny and glazed (only on the top not ribbed side of the belt). If this were the case what are my options? Possibly sand the lower timing cover down or replace it?
