First of all I'd suggest adding a transmission cooler

As far as DIY for the rebuild.... Ehhh you can if you want, but these transmissions are a colossal PITA. If you have the ability to machine then press new bearing guides in to the case then sure go for it. IDK where a service manual is still looking, I'd bet redbull or poorman can point you in the right direction. My bet would be honda is the only one that has it.
Just so you know what you are potentially getting into watch this video

Thanks for the video. Doesn't look terrible by any means. Found the manual so I think I'm going to go ahead and get it coming. It might help give a better idea of what this is going to take. Once I have time to check it over I'll have a better idea of what I plan on doing.

Will do. I was thinking the same thing on pictures and write up. I'm still looking into this and doing some research to diagnose it as best as possible before I pull it apart. Thanks for all the info so far.

Eric the car guy said he thought he had the wrong clutch pack when he took it apart and it looked ok(didn't measure thickness, but visually it looked ok). He didn't say whether he did or did not have the wrong pack...I'm about to tackle this, so I sure wish he woulda been more plain on that...I wonder how cascius did with his attempt???
