Default New(used) Honda ACCord 97 problems

hello

Im new to this website i figured this was the cheapest way to get some advice. I just bought today a 97 accord 4 door auto with 95,000 miles for $2000 it seemed good for the price my dad is no mechanic but he knows a bit about cars n told me i should get it. I made the mistake given the fact this is my first car to drive it in 2 it has D4 D3 2 1 n for some reason i made the mistake of driving it on 2 i drove around 50 miles not knowing what i was doing, it started kicking on me in the xpressway would not let me go higher then 60mph, well the car was driving really well but now its kicking alot and the speedometer basically does not tell speed anymore as well as it kicks alot , this was not happening before i drove the car in 2. Any help would be appreciated , i dont know how to specify some things since im new to the car n honda world. thank you

Well, in 2nd gear I can understand the rev-limiter would get you at highway speeds. Don't know why it's still happening. You're driving in D4 now, right?

Yes while i was driving the D4 square was blinking, given the fact i dont know too much about cars, obviously since i was driving it in 2 -.- . But yes my father was driving it and it will still kick like it was okay for 20 mins or so then it will do this kicking thing. The speedometer is broken it dosent show the speed anymore just stays in zero

Reset the PCM by pulling the radio/backup fuse for a minute. It is the 7.5 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box.

If the D4 light starts flashing again, stop by a parts store like autozone to get the codes scanned.

You can also check for engine and transmission codes by the instructions in the DIY section under How to get CEL codes.

After getting the codes and solving that/those issues.

I personally would suggest changing the trans fluid. 95k miles on it, not knowing if or when it was changed, and driving for some period of time in 2nd....
I'd suggest at least two prob three cycles of a drain and fill with Honda Z1 trans fluid. Easy to do, if you can change oil, you can change the fluid....I consider the trans fluid easier than doing an oil change since there is no filter involved...drain and fill.
