Default newb with question

Hi All. I have a question for you. My 2000 Accord is giving a code P 1457. I have researched and found the most obvious answers.
Here"s my question. I damaged the black box under the passengers side fender (not sure what it is called) attaches to the air filter intake. There is a small hole in it. Would this give me the code?

I also checked the gas cap and it is OK.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks from the new guy.

Welcome.
4-cyl or V-6? They might as well be completely different cars...

What were the "most obvious" answers that you found? What did you do to check them & rule them out?

That black thing at the front fender is just a resonator for the intake air, it will not set off that code.

P1457 = EVAP system leak - canister part of the EVAP system

The EVAP canister lives underneath the car, below the left-rear seat. Find it by looking under the rocker panel just forward of the left-rear tire. Check out this post over in the DIY section.
