Default Newbie here need help

We have a 2016 accord V6 18,000 Showing. The check engine light kept coming on so we took it over to the "take your chances dealership" they came back and told us that a squirrel or something has eaten a hole in the gas line looking this up it looks like it's made of aluminum if so that's a tough squirrel. Any way the guy says that the WHOLE ASSEMBLY will have to be replaced that means gas tank and all the other stuff that goes with it. $1750 bucks. We looked up some parts info and found that it's only $100-$200 and it's sold separate. How can that be? If the line is sold why do I need all that other stuff? Another dealership where I take my Corvette is going to look at it Tuesday my money is on that guy. Any comments will greatly appreciated I love this car the engine, no stop start just the whole thing. Thanks

PAhonda:

It says Scan DTCs to find P0455 and P0456 says they used a smoke machine found a vent tube from the fuel tank to the filler neck to have small holes in it Tube is only available with a fuel tank assembly

A quick look at an OEM parts site like hondapartsnow.com shows some tubes to be part of the fuel tank from Honda. I'm not sure which line is leaking on your tank.

You may try to find them from an aftermarket supplier?

Are you planning on doing your own work or having a shop do it? Some shops may be able to repair/remake the part?

I know some hose and hydraulic shops can fabricate lines and may be a cheaper option than the whole tank. Maybe find a used parts from a junkyard?

I've got a guy that works on my Corvette and at this dealership (GM) they have 9 big time certified techs if not State Farm said my comprehensive will pay for it. I think it's the vapor line but we'll see. Do you think it can be fixed instead of doing all of that stuff?

Thanks for the reply
