Default OBD1 Code 12 (FIrst Post)

1995 Accord LX 2.2 4banger

CEL comes on when I am driving. When I shut off the car and restart, the CEL is not on anymore. It will randomly only come on when driving.

CEL came on and jumped the OBD for the code, and got 12. After I jumped the code 12 (EGR Valve Malfunction) I replaced the valve and gasket. A day later the CEL came back on with the same code 12.

What could be triggering this code to come back after I replaced the EGR Valve?

Maybe the real problem wasn't a bad EGR valve, but plugged EGR ports in the intake manifold. Somewhere in the DIY area there should be a thread about how to clean those.

The "new-member" area is pretty much for welcome & intro postings, so I'll move this over to General Tech.

There's more to the EGR system than just the valve. Schematic from the factory service manual attached. the FSM has 4-1/2 pages of troubleshooting for a DTC 12. Do you have a FSM?

Unfortunately at the moment I do not have the manual. I should pick one up pretty quickly it seems like. Any suggestions where to get one. Ebay? or just any auto shop? Thanks!!

Thank you for the suggestion on the intake manifold parts. Also, I am still trying to maneuver around the forums. I will most definitely remember to post in the correct areas.
