oil drain bolt got stuck. How to loose it?
Hi, i am a newbie and it is my first post here. i tried hard today to DIY oil change on my 2007 Honda Accord (V6 SE). the oil drain bolt is stuck there like it is fused to the oil pan. how do you loose the bolt? I suspect I turned the wrench to the wrong direction when I tried to loose the bolt. I should turn the wrench counterclockwise when I face the bolt, shouldn't I?
thanks.
thanks.

You need a high quality ring spanner or socket so you don't risk rounding of the edges.
Then remember, lefty loosey, righty tighty.
Don't be afraid to really lean on it either, a 6 or 12inch extension might help to.
If you have a decent ring spanner, you can loop another similar sized spanner onto the open end to make it longer, and give you more leverage as well.
Also remember, it will be much easier to undo if the car has been warmed up, and the oil change will be quicker and smoother as well as the oil will be thinner. (just don't burn yourself on the hot oil).
Once you do get it out, inspect the plug for damaged threads etc. Replace it if there are any, or any signs of any.
Not sure if the newer cars still user a compression washer under the plug?
If so, replace as well.

Best would be a 6-point socket, 17mm.
If you over-tightened it, you certainly want to take care you don't round off the plug bolt. Otherwise, use a pipe wrench & then buy a new plug.
My 2007 Civic uses a crush-washer/compression-washer, so I assume the newer Accords do that too.

Thank you guys for help. I used a 11/16' wrench and rounded off the edges of the bolt. Then I bought a 17mm wrench from sears, and I removed the bolt finally. Just imagine how difficult it was to work on a rounded bolt.
It is my first oil change ever! A good lesson I learned is using the right tool and doing homework.
Where can I find a service manual for my 2007 Honda Accord?

The absolute best service book is from www dot helminc dot com. But it's expensive. I've got one & the amount of detail is awesome. It's the actual factory manual, minus the sections that cover diesels & stuff that isn't available in USA.
For oil changes, general simple maintenance, and educating yourself to talk intelligently with your mechanic, the Chilton or Haynes books from parts chain-stores are OK.
