Default Oil leak in a 1998 V6 Accord EX

I recently purchased a 1998 EX V6 Accord with 200,000 miles and I discovered it has a slow oil leak. I have ruled out the oil pan and filter. I have isolated the leak to the driver's side to a bronze color gasket going to the transmission as seen below.

I am uncertain if the leak is higher and falling to this location.

While I do most of the maintenance on my cars, I am a novice. Could anyone offer insight into the location and possible significance of the leak?

Edit: to insert better images

I am not very familiar with the V6 setup at all.

What is the pipe going into the brass/bronze piece? Is the thermostat on the other side of the bronze piece?

It looks like the pipe that would come from the water pump to the thermostat.

Your transmission axle seal is also leaking.

It looks to me like its leaking at the half shaft assembly seal into the transmission. You can see all the red transmission fluid around the housing.

I circled it in red on the drawing. Its labeled Half Shaft Assy (Assembly) in the Honda parts website. I guess you would want to replace the seal behind it but hopefully someone else can give a little more guidance then me.

The part that you circle is just a dust shield for the right axle seal. Yeah the axle seal is definitely leaking.

Thank you very much.

I have a suspicion that I will need to pay someone to fix this,...

Now that I look closer, the fluid is red, so it is likely transmission fluid.

You should pick up a bottle of Honda ATF and add fluid to make sure the fluid level does not get low. If not, then you risk damaging the transmission.

It's actually a simple job to do, all you need to do is pull the tire of, take the lower ball joint out off the way, there are 3 14mm bolts that hold the half shaft in, take them out and you can pull the axle out of the way a little bit, pop the axle seal out, lube the new axle seal with some water, not oil, you can almost push it in by hand believe it or not, tap it in flush square with a hammer in to the case, and reverse them steps, put everything back. (make sure you get the right seal because both sides uses different size seal, it's a Honda, most other make uses the same size axle seal).

I am getting come quotes and thinking about trying to repair myself.

Do I need to drain the transmission fluid first if I attempt repair?

Thanks everyone has been very helpful

No you don't have too because the seal is higher up but expect some fluid will come out, catch it with a bucket.
