Question Oil Pressure Sensor Connector

Well, just replaced the leaking oil pressure switch on my 97 Accord 2.2 liter.

However the black cover and the end of the connector that goes over the switch pretty much fell apart. I guess from age, heat.

Now my question, how important is that connector cover? Obviously it's there for a reason and I called Honda and it is really part of the wiring/harness and not sold separate.

Anyone experience the same problem when replacing an oil pressure switch. Not sure what to do, but open for subject matter expert suggestions!

Thanks.

JM

The rubber insulation sleeve become hard and brittle over time, common occurrence.

You could try wrapping with very high temperature resistant electrical tape or try to find an insulation sleeve for a female bullet terminal at an electrical part shops.

Here is an ebay listing showing both the insulation sleeve and terminal. It's not the right size as on the oil pressure switch.

You can also search google under the term insulation sleeve for female bullet terminal. You can just get a sleeve, and try to lube up the sleeve and slide over your existing terminal.

Wink

With a switch mounted that close to the block, you hope it would be designed for the heat.

Just a a precaution I took some electrical splicing tape (good for 130 C) and wrapped the switch and connector.

Hopefully it will be ok.

Thanks guy's!

Heat shrink tubing should make a nice cover. I doubt it will last, but also agree that this is not critical.

good luck
