Default oil usage

My 99 Accord LX 4 cylinder VTECH 123000 milesseems to be using some oil. Maybe 1 quartevery 3000 miles. No oil on my garage floor ever. I never see any blue smoke out the exhaust. I have owned this car since new. Mobile 1 every oil change. Im going to do a leak down test this weekend. Am I missing somthing?

Feel inside the tailpipe to see if it's oily. If so it is likely burning the oil. Good move on the leakdown test, that tells more than just compression. 3K per quart is pretty expensive to use Mobil 1. You might try switching to a regular dino oil to see if it slows the consumption. Even if it doesn't it will be much less expensive than $6.00 a pop every 3K.

Assuming there is nothing mechanically wrong this has worked for hundreds of people on bobistheoilguy.com but instructions should be followed exactly. Sometimes it requires two applications but it's quite amazing, not snake oil.

Regular dino oil is on my work bench now. Im going to up it to 10w30 and keep an eye on it real close this time around. The tail pipe is clean, plugs look real good also.
