a buddy of mine had his Transmission fluid changed with the wrong ATF.
It took him only two blocks to find out that was a bad idea.
Immediately went home and change the fluid with the right ATF.

I don't know if he flush the system or just changed the fluid.

now after 15 minutes of the freeway driving the car slams into third or second gear down to 40 MPH with CEL P0700, P0730 and P0740.
The car won't drive right until it cools down.

I told him I would flush the system out, but wanted to check with you before I wasted $100.

Any advise?????

 

you need to get it all out. get the Honda fluid.

 

It would be good to know what kind of car we're talking about.

The torque converter doesn't drain, so typically you can only drain about 1/3 of the total fluid, so you need to drain & fill 4 or 5 times to really get it all.

Be aware that Honda automatic transmissions do not like to be "power-flushed" using any external pumps.
