Default P1259 code after replacing variable timing solenoid - 2001 Accord ex 2.4L A/T

Recently had oil leaks fixed on my 2001 Accord ex 2.4L A/T. It has 224,000 miles, and I just had the mechanic shop fix all the oil leaks it had. This included: rear main seal, distributor cap o-ring, and the VTEC solenoid.

After getting the vehicle back, noticed the upper radiator hose was swelling up...took it back and they said the hoses were bad so they replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses. I don't think this has anything to do with the p1259 code, but I thought I would mention it since it happened around the same time.

Then took it driving on the freeway and about 25 miles later, the check engine light came on. It reads code p1259. O'Reilly print out says faulty VTEC solenoid. (I just had that part replaced). I checked the oil level, it is at the highest point and full. Not too dark or dirty, just got topped off after having oil leaks fixed. But have not gotten oil change done recently.

Car is not stalling, and no oil is leaking. New VTEC solenoid is connected, and looks securely fit. Any idea why this code is showing up now after the part was just replaced?

It is possible you got a bad part or the wrong part out of the box.

If I am reading your post correctly. You had the VTEC solenoid replaced then addressed an oil leak coming from it, I would take a look at the screen on the VTEC solenoid and electrical connection. Why did your replace the VTEC solenoid.

thanks for the reply. It was the other way around, the vtec solenoid was leaking so it was replaced. Then the check engine light came on once the new one was installed. I was told by the mechanic that the vtec solenoid was one of the causes of oil leaks occurring, so they advised it be replaced.
