I'm having a devil of a time removing the IACV. By that I mean I can't remove it at all.

I'm afraid I'm going to break the bolts taking this thing off. I've used PB Blaster like four times. The bolts won't budge. I'm thinking it might break so I'm trying to find out if parts websites even sell a Honda replacement for these bolts in case I have to drill them out.

This is so troublesome I may not even clean the IACV. Much less hassle not even bothering if I'm risking breaking the bolt.

If you have a breaker bar, use that to break the bolt loose. Avoid rounding the bolt head w/ an open-end wrench. If already rounded, Craftsman makes a "damaged bolt removal socket set" that will grab a damaged bolt head.

Yeah but wouldn't a breaker bar still break a bolt head off of the body of the bolt if the threads are holding the bolt on tight? I know a breaker bar applies more torque but I thought that just meant a stuck bolt would have its head broken off faster.

 

If a bolt fails due to torsional shearing, it will fail at the top of the threads (smallest cross-section).

If it twists off, you will need to remove the throttle body and go to a machine shop for bolt removal and perhaps thread replacement.

I think it unlikely you will twist the bolt off, but can't be sure.

You might try heating w/ a propane torch to help removal.
