does anyone know if the new pcm's can be reflashed or if vin is permanently burnt in?
i have an 04 accord ex with a bad pcm. if they can be reflashed i wanna snag one from a junkyard, but if not i'm gonna have to go to the dealer. i just dont wanna spend a few hundred dollars on a paperweight. any help would be appreciated

 

What makes you thinkyour pcm is bad? They are very durable components, and while they do fail, it's a pretty rare occurence. If the CEL comes on during starting and goes off on starting, this indicates a good self-check and likely a good PCM.

You can check prices for a used PCM from car-part.com. If you input your zip code you can find parts near you.

Most PCM's can be flashed, but I am not familiar w/ this aspect of Hondas.

i know for a fact the pcm is bad and i know the older hondas you could just pop another one in if it went bad. i just basically need to know if the newer honda pcm's are vin specific
