Default Picked up 2002 accord.. scary

I picked up my first Honda car today. Car seems mint, 90K but no matter what im scared of the tranny. I'm obsessing over it. It seems to be working as it should but i have a few questions.

When making a turn i feel what i would call the change in the way it up shifts in out of the turn.

When i take my my foot off the gas and coast the RPM's fluctuate down then back to normal. I have a bad case of OCD so ill be freaking out over this.

Oh and are Honda breaks always this "weak" its a non ABS car.

Car was senior owned so im sure it was not beat on. Its a I4 so thats all i have to say

150hp in a 12-15 year old car isn't like it's fast by any means. If the RPM seems like it's kicking up in first and second, it's because it's not in the power curve of the motor. In a straight line on the highway it'll go pretty good between 40-65 and cruise at 75. But around town or going up and down hills, or with a full tank and a couple of adults it's a dog.
I would spring for all the maintenance if it's not up to date though, it'll last a lot longer.

Where are you located? I don't think there were ANY non-ABS 2002 Accords in USA.

"Weak" brakes doesn't sound like ABS, it sounds like maybe the vacuum-booster. Is it getting vacuum? Is the pedal-linkage adjusted properly?

Im located in NYC metro. And yeah, no abs. When car is ice cold in with the first start of the day the tranny seems to slip in to second gear. It only does this once and all is good. Should i save $2K and figure on a new tranny? The fluid looks like crap. Real brown and nasty. All other gears seem 100%

You may want to do a drain and refill on the transmission fluid using Honda ATF? Some people will probably say that the new fluid could cause the transmission to fail, others will suggest to change the fluid with new. I lean towards changing the fluid.

What do you mean by weak brakes, exactly?
