Default Vss

Ok - got the tranny out. Will try to attach a photo of the magnetic drain plug.

Took a look at the plastic gear in the hole where the VSS drive link goes into transaxle. It is very chewed up, and moves horizontally on it's axle, which seems wrong to me.

Love to see a pic of the worn plastic gear.

A lot of fine steel powder (clutch wear) is normal to find on the trans plug, depending on how long it's been since ATF change. Chunks of steel would be a concern.

good luck

I thought I posted a photo of the drain plug, but I don't see it here.

I will get a photo of the plastic gear a.s.a.p.

Default VSS on hold...Question about CAI?

While I await the securing of a transmission, I have a question about Cold Air Intakes for you Honda brainiacs:

Is CAI an upgrade to consider? Any other upgrades that you can recommend?

THANKS!

Most cai dont really suck in cold air, rather under hood temp air, i run a drop in K&n air filter in the stock air box , and for the 200/300 for a cai, i will pass on this mod, good luck

Default VSS tranny pull

Hey Honda Folks, I have pulled the tranny on my 94 Accord, and am looking at the flex plate bolted to the torque converter. Do I need to remove it and the torque converter before putting another tranny in, or do I just bolt the new tranny onto the existing flex plate?

Thanks!

Just me but I'd pull the converter and "seat" it to the new trans......you are going to have a heck of a time trying to seat the converter on the shaft while it is still on the flex plate.

Thanks all! Hey Poorman, You'll have to bear with me as I'm completely new to this. When I pulled the tranny out, I'm looking at the flex plate bolted to the engine side. I assume it's bolted to the converter. Do I need to pull that out of the engine side and do something with it, or can I just raise the new tranny up and install the 8 small bolts around the edge?

Thanks! :]
