Default power steering reservoir

Is it true that there is and internal filter located in the power steering reservoir? My service advisor recommended that I replace the entire reservoir when I change the PS fluid myself.

The mileage is 118K.

There was a fine mesh screen down low in the reservoir, on my 95 Integra and on my 98 Accord. I would guess that any Honda is the same.

If a new reservoir is reasonable $$$, then go ahead & replace it. OTOH, I just cleaned mine real good. Removed it, used degreaser & hot soapy water, then dried it real REAL thoroughly.

Replacing the reservoir seems strange. Is Honda trying to keep up with Mercedes which has a filter you change? See if the dealer even stocks the reservoir to know if even their mechanics are doing this.
