Default power steering reservoir back flow

I've recently noticed a whining noise which appears to be coming from the ps pump, followed by the ps fluid backing up through the plastic reservoir bottle. Both stop after about 30 secs. I was told by my mechanic friend that it may have air somewhere in the ps system. Does this sound plausible and is there a way to bleed the system? Also, the fluid that seeps out doesn't appear normal, it is bubbly when it comes out.

What Year/trim Accord do you have?

Usual problem is air getting into PS fluid w/ cold engine causing whining and growling when steering is used.

On V6's there is an oring on the PS pump suction inlet fitting that is usual cause of air entering system.

Note, air is circulated out w/ PS operation, so if air stops entering (when fluid is warmed), the fluid will appear normal. No air is permanently retained.

good luck
