if axle nut is tight and the 4, 14 mm bolts on the hub are tight ,, it looks like that the wheel bearing is loose,,,

OK, so that is part of the hub assembly correct? I can't seem to just buy the bearing, all the places around here sell the entire hub assembly only, but each one is about $40, so the parts aren't that bad. I'd bet the labor will kill me.

I'll keep searching for a DIY link. Anyone have one?

*** Most important, is this car safe to drive? I need to get back and forth to work and I won't be able to fix it for about a week. ***

Thanks for everyone's help.

I just re-read your post here and want to make sure I understand something. Do I understand you correctly that you think the wheel bearing is loose and that I need to tighten that?

As opposed to replacing the hub assembly?

I think I just got officially confused. lol

There are 4 bolts that hold the bearing to the knuckle. They are behind the knuckle (on the side where the axle enters the hub). You will want to tighten those four bolts. You may need a deep offset box wrench to avoid the boot of the axle. Google search "deep offset box wrench" to see what tool I mean.

If you can't tighten those 4 bolts, at least try to feel back there to see if those bolts are moving around when you shake the hub.
