Default Question about Oil on my 96EX V6

Hi i have an 1996 Accord EX V6 2.7L

Bought it at 125K miles...i ran Mobil 1 5W30 syntheticoil untll 130k miles...then ran Mobil 1 10W30 syntheti****ill now at 135K....what weight should i be putiing in this car? With this 135K mileage does it matter? I think the book says 5W30 regular oil...idont have the money to spend on synthetic and if i dont need to be running it id rather not..Should ijust switch to regular 5W30 non-synthetic now?

yes you can,,,,,,,,use any major brands ,, if you live in a cold ( below 0 ) winter climate use 5w-20 in winter and 10w-30 in summer .. the key is to replace oil and filter regurarly 3000 to 3500 miles

It shouldn't hurt the motor. You can drop that by my house, I'll trade you 10 quarts Pennzoil or Quaker State or Castrol dyno 5w-30 for 5 of that Amsoil. Ill put it in my diesel and run it for 10k. If you're going to change the oil every 3.5 k, the Amsoil is a waste of money.

yeah amsoil cliams that you dont have to change it ever after putting it in your car, just change the filter and replace the lost oil from the filter.

the manual says 10w-30 is fine to run in the honda as long as it's not below 20 degrees :-p i live in arizona and was running it for a while but my engine was taking a lot longer to warm up so i just switched back to the thinner stuff it seems to be more kittenish with the 5w. i used to get the walmart 5 quart 10w-30 full synthetic for like 10 bucks that's why i was running it... dirt cheap synthetic.. but i just decided im never walking in walmart again and i just suck it up the $25 and put full synthetic mobil1 in.

I hope that you don't believe that bull crap ..

guys .. do you want to keep your engine running for a long long time 300-400k miles ??
if you use regular oil( major brands ) change it and filter 3-3.5 k miles,, cold climate( 0 or lower ) use 5w-20 .warm climate 10w-30
syntetic oil 5k miles ..........
A lot of people will differ in opinions , a lot of oil company will say this and that to make you buy their oil ,, just like commercials..... 1 try to outdo the other to convince you to but their brand ..
the key is to change it and keep it clean as often as you can ...
what are you really saving but not doing an extra oil change a year ?? 20-30 dollars .. ?? think about it that's less than 3 DOLLARS PER MONTH .

It will likely be okay but it is a bit heavy for that engine assuming that it's not using any oil. The engine might be a bit sluggish, especiallywhen cold, and your mileage might take a hit. There's no reason to waste it but were it me I would put regular 5W30 in it now and wait for summer to use up the heavier weight.
