Default Rabbits disable '93 Accord

My son's car wouldn't start.
Just a few months prior he had put new Bosch ignition set in.

Lifted up the hood to see this done to the Bosch wire set --->

We live somewhat in the country; strongly believe cottontail rabbits climbed up to be safe from predators (occasional coyotes) overnight.
With nothing else to do, and plenty of time to do it in, the rabbits started to chew ... is what we're thinking.

I have the same accord model, so I'm thinking of getting wire mesh to somehow drape / attach to valve cover to prevent this.
Wonder if that might interrupt firing. Any thoughts or anything better? mothballs?
I'm open to suggestions however strange sounding.

WOOOOOOOOOOW.

Are you going to bend the wire mesh to make a soft of cage around the wires? I hope it doesn't fall off, might not want it to hang and rub on the drive belts or get kicked up under the hood. If it falls off and out of the car it will just make more garbage on the road for someone to accidentally run over.

I've heard people put traps and poisonous baits to actually kill or catch the ones that keep coming back. Not sure about moth ***** doing anything to repel rabbits. What about taste-based/bitterant repellants? Like those things they sell to keep dogs from biting themselves? Or some homemade concoction of the nastiest spiciest stuff on earth? Not sure how these would hold up against engine heat.

By the way since they have to be replaced, any reason why your son went with Bosch and not NGK or something? People swear by NGK for Honda's he might want to go with them this time around? Maybe the blue color will ward away rabbits.

Make the car smell like a predator. Garden stores might sell dried urine from bobcats. That's supposed to keep em away. I've also heard of people using human hair (ask your barbershop for some) to keep em out of gardens. Maybe tie a mesh bag of that somewhere under the hood.

The neighbor had the same problem with squirrels chewing up her Camry's engine wiring harness. She parks on the street as does everyone else. The difference is that she doesn't move the car for weeks at a time. All the other cars are typically moved daily, or every few days at the least, and she's the only one with the problem. I'm guessing the animals have to get used to a car staying in the same place before they'll chew on it.

Just a thought.

unfortunately my neighbors feed the rabbits, putting out carrots and piling up boulders so they have a safe bunny burrow area!
Even hired my son to feed 'em when they were gone on vacation.

Ha Ha Well, I asked for even stange sounding solutions and I got one, thanks Jim.
Who says the HAF moderators are all work and no play?

And if I couldn't find dried urine for sale, should I go for fresh?
And does it have to be bobcat?
