My compressor has seized. Until I get it fixed, is there an easy way to disable the compressor? I'm afraid someone will hit the a/c button causing the belt to just slip on the pulley. I couldn't find a fuse for the compressor under the hood. Is there a fuse somewhere else or something I can unplug?

Just unplug the one pin connector going to the compressor. Secure the wiring harness with a zip tie or piece of wire, because it could get caught in the belt or the cooling fan. I think the wire color is red, but not 100% sure on that.

 

All you gotta do is get a belt that fits the power steering pump and alternator.

 

Be sure to put elect tape on the end of that wire.....it goes "hot" if the button is pushed.....don't want to short out anything.

 

Just need to clarify, I meant one for the power steering pump and one that fits only the alternator. All you gotta do is use a piece of string to measure and go to the parts store and match it up.

 

Seems like we have 2 different suggested methods & confusion combining them together.

1) Leave the compressor in place and absolutely disable it so it can't be turned on. For this to work, the clutch has to be OK to freewheel.

Unplug the wire from the compressor clutch, and tape it up. Make sure the end is covered so it can't touch ground & short out. Make sure it can't get caught in the rotating belts.

2) REMOVE the compressor & get an alternate belt. You can measure it, or you can ask for a belt to fit an Accord DX (which I think doesn't have AC).
