did you remove and loosen the 2 ,10mm bolts at the bottom of the steering column??

there is a black cover with clips at bottom of steering cover it wraps around column,, you need to remove it, there is a joint that connects the column to the p/s rack,, remove the lower bolt, loosen the top bolt and slide the joint upward away from rack..

yes I have, the problem is because of that shaft it does not allowe the rack and pinion to move right or left far enough for the tie rod shaft to clear. I have also removed the tie rod ends.

piece of cake......... while you hold the rack,,just grab one side of the tie rod and pull it all the way out ,,i think it is all the way out to the rt side ( passenger),, it will then clear ,,

I have tried that, but there is a welded bracket on both side that won't allowe clearence for the tie rod to come down. I have taken down the muffler, all the bolt for rack and pinion, the fluid lines, the bolt from the steering colum, is there anything else I'm missing? there is a bolt on each side holding part of the frame do I have to remove them?
