bulletin # 94-041,, effects 94-96 accords,,

it says to replace gaskets, bolts, nuts and springs on the mid pipe ,,, ( the small exh pipe between frt pipe and cat )

Now i do not know if that is exactly the noise you hear , i would have to listen to it to confirm it , but it sounds like the same symptom
Yep, that's the one i'm talking about, dont even waste your time with it.

Thanks guys... I think I'll just go ahead and put a header on it and be done with it... [:-]

BTW... do you guys know anything about DNX brand headers?

My 96 Accord 4 cylinder has made this famous 'Honda Buzz' noise since new. It is most noticeable on mornings below 50 degrees and right about 1800-2100 rpm. It goes away in 5 minutes. The noise originates from the short section of pipe in front of the cat. converter. I think this is just below the 'A-pipe.' It's a very annoying sound.

The dealer tried all sorts of tightenings, gaskets, springs, etc. There is a bullentin or recall about this noise. This did nothing so they pronounced it a 'characteristic of the car.' This was ten years ago.

I figured it was a harmonic vibration in cold exhaust pipes. So I tooksix 1/2 dia. x 4 inch bolts, cut off the heads, and fastened the bolts in an even pattern with 2 high quality stainless hose clamps around the short pipe in front of the cat. This works very well - the additional weight of the bolts dampens the vibration just enough that I am not bothered by it anymore. My other 96 Accord 4 cylinder does not make the buzz - go figure. But it sure is fun to explain this mess of bolts and hose clamps on the exhaust pipe to every mechanic who wants to take it off.......
