Default rear brake pad problem

I have a 2010 accord.I had the rear brake pads replaced at 17,000 miles.I had the updated pads put on and am already noticing wear after 7000 miles.I was told the new updated pads would last at least 30,000 miles. That isn't going to happen. What mm thickness should I replace the rear brake pads at so i don't ruin my rotors?Thank you

A new Honda pad's thickness is 8.3 - 9.0 mm (this does not include the backing plate).

The service limit is 1.0 mm.

It usually is the inner pad that wears the fastest. There is the wear indicator on the inner pad.

You can check the thickness at regular intervals, such as during tire rotations, etc. and change when it is near or at the limit, or even change them when you hear the noise from the wear indicator. The wear indicator metal is actually softer than the rotor metal, so it won't really damage the rotor. The rotor will get damage if you let the pads go down to the backing plate.

Your Accord probably is part of the early production 2010 model year, as later production 2010 Accords had the revised rear pads. Newer model year 8th generation Accords (2011-2012) even got revised rear calipers.

If you had the rear pads replaced, do you know if they checked the upper and lower caliper slide pins and switch them, as necessary? This link shows an enlarged copy of the instruction sheet that comes with the revised pads.
