Default Rear brakes

I purchased my first Honda in 2010, It is an 08 Accord EXL V6 with auto trans. and had only 10,000 miles. I had 38000 miles when the rear pads were worn into the wear indicators. The front pads are only about half worn. I have never had a car wear the rear pads out first. Is this common for this year Accord? I called my Honda dealers service dept. and was told they see this all the time. Said it is the suspension on these cars. But I do love this car except for the road noise. Thanks to all.

I've heard the same thing about more recent cars. Sometimes it's easy to suspect aggressive driving might be triggering the stability-control to work the rear brakes, but I don't think that's the whole thing.

"Back in the day" it was almost guaranteed the rear brakes would out-last the front, even lasting twice as long. Over the years, car designers have been making the front brakes bigger & the rear brakes smaller. Seems like they went overboard in that direction? And how the brake wear balances front-to-rear still depends very strongly on driving habits.

I have the same thing on the '07 Pilot and a friends '08 Ridgeline. The front pads on those are like hockey pucks....thickness.

I personally haven't pulled the wheels on the '16 Pilot yet but I will guess it is going to be about the same set up.

The '07 Pilot gets about 40K on the rear pads and about 60K on the fronts.
