Rear window stuck down

Rear window stuck down
I am new here, did a search did not find what I wanted. I see from the many posts that I am not the only one with window trouble. Years ago I had been a professional mechanic, when things were simple.
It is going to rain Monday, I have the panel off the rear door. I would like to put 12v directly into the motor to get the window up; won't work. I have done this before (Bronco); take a battery and put the power to the motor.
Ford has two wires from the motor, one is not positive - other not negative. You have to put power to both wires, one way for up, flip the wires for down. Not rocket science. Why doesn't that work with a Honda motor? It was working yesterday. I unplugged the motor from the wiring harness, applied power - Nothing. How does one test a motor anyway? Rain coming.

Well, Welcome to the forum;
This question would be better posted in general tech help.
Did you try to reverse battery power on the motor leads?
You could OHM test the motor leads and hope for very low resistance.
Thump the motor with a rubber mallet; could be a stuck brush.
Put your year and model in your signature so we have a clue what car we are working on.

Hey thanks Hondadude, I like that name. I have 2 - 89 Full Size Broncos and a 95 Accord. I spend most of my time on the BKO's, there is a forum called FSB Forum. Usually just maintenance with the Honda, never had a headache like this...all the windows (radio antenna) are dead and fuses are good. I read something about a Window Control Module that is very expensive. Argh. Are we having fun yet?
