2000 Accord, 5 speed 4 cyl.

I have the chirp of a release bearing while my engine is idling. The clutch and bearing are new(ish) (25,000 km), what is going to happen if I ignore the chirp? I've noticed that in the last month or so the chirp has graduated to a whirring noise when the clutch is lightly depressed.
If the answer is to tear it apart and replace the bearing, do I change the whole clutch assembly... resurface the flywheel????

 

I had a really bad one in the shop a while back that wore through the pressure plate arms. You can replace just the bearing.
