Default Removing Wiper Arms?

I think due to ice, the wiper arms jumped a tooth. They bang badly at the bottom of the stroke. I could force them up a tooth while still attached but that's not a good idea. After loosening the nut, I tried all kinds of gentle prying methods to get the arm off but it didn't work. I don't want to force it or scrape up the plastic.

Either I'm missing something or it requires a puller to pop it loose. Any tricks out there to get them off?

THanks!

I've had to use a puller to break them loose, sometimes they can be pulled by hand. I don't think it's possible for the drive lug and wiper arm to "jump" position (too tight). More likely the gear drive is worn generating slop in the drive mechanism.

good luck

Wiggle it & pull on the side opposite the arm. I've always been able to get them off without a puller, but sometimes it takes a bit of wiggling.

Where the arm is attached to the shaft doesn't really have 'teeth'. The shaft is tapered & knurled, the arm has a smooth tapered hole. Reposition the arm & tighten the nut.
