I would download the honda shop manual, because I am not familiar with your car.

Go to the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum. Open up the online shop manuals link. In there, the honda tech site has an 86-89 manual you can download as a pdf. That should help a lot.

 

As PA said the manual will help.

Been a while since I've done the drivers side - had to do two of mine over the years. About the hardest part is being sure not to damage the plastic clip that holds one of the rods in place.

If you get stuck on anything let us know. I've changed a handle or two on my 3rd gens before. It has been a while but it is like riding a bike.....it will come back to me.

Also, I forgot there is a jesus clip on the door lock **** (?) rod.....try not to lose it or you'll be fishing around in the bottom of the door looking for it....yes, I have been there.
