Hey guys I need some help, just bought a stock 96 accord 6cyl auto,183k. Here's the scoop. The other day while I was driving on the highway at 70mph the tach was bouncing between 1500-3000. It was doing it straight for about 5minutes then just died at 0. Didn't seem to affect anything, I was still driving it @70mph. Now everytime I drive it it stays at 0.
Does anyone have a wire schematic for the tach?? Any help would be great. Thanks

Did you get a check engine light? You can go to Autozone, and they can read the codes from your car.
If the cruise control isn't working, then I would suspect the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). If not, then there is something wrong with your tach in the gauge cluster.

Yep, CEL is on, I've tried looking for the engine diagnostic pin under the dash and under the hood. Can anyone tell me where it is? Also I was thinking about the vss, but doesn't that cut off the speedometer?(it works fine). Anyone else have a thought?
Go to the link below, click on CEL Chec..., then follow the instructions
