Default Shuttering at a stop light in the drive mode

Hi there forum members:
I have a new to me 1987 Honda Accord LXi with 87 thousand original miles on the clock. Said vehicle has a auto trans.
The problem is, when in the drive mode, the vehicle really shutters at a stop light, when stopped. The car shakes, a bit. If i put the car in neutral, then the vibration goes away. The vehicle idles at around 750 r.p.m.'s in drive. Other than the shuttering at a stop in drive mode, the car functions perfectly. Runs great, and on the highway, delivers right at 34 m.p.g.! It really is a great, comfortable vehicle.
Ok, any advice would be appreicated on the above. Thanks.
Dean

WOW, an 87 with only 87,000 miles. Great find.

I've got an 88 LXI auto (245,000 miles). I had the same issue. I found that changing the trans fluid and adding some "shudder fix" help reduce the issue. Notice it reduced it, never completely went away. Might be me worring about it too much.

Not sure if/when the trans fluid was changed in yours, I think it is scheduled every 60K miles. It's a simple drain and fill, no filter involved.

Thanks for the help. The elderly woman who i received the vehicle from, kept very good records of everything that was ever done to the car. She had the same mechanic work on the car since day one.
I changed out the a.t.f. with Honda a.t.f., as soon as i received the car, as it had never been changed.
So is this shaking normal for older Honda Accords, with automatic transmissions? At 65+ years of age, with a few beers and a cigar, i start to shake! LOL!
So, a new to me car, for me to play with. My previous vehicle was a 1992 Nissan 240 Sx Se, with 286K miles on the clock. A bit more nimble than this accord, but not as comforable for my old bones! LOL!

P.S. If i want to go fast, i still have my built 2002, Yamaha FZ1 motorbike.
